Bereits zum zweiten Mal steht Aretha Franklins Version von "Respect" an der Spitze unserer Sommercharts. 2022 kürte unsere Jury den Titel zum besten Female-Power-Song aller Zeiten, obwohl das Original von Otis Redding stammt. Aber wie Aretha Franklin den Text aus weiblicher Perspektive interpretierte und wie kraftvoll sie ihre Forderung nach Respekt zum Ausdruck brachte, ist einzigartig. Otis Redding hat das genauso gesehen und ihr den Song geschenkt. Allein wie Aretha das Wort "R.E.S.P.E.C.T" Buchstabe für Buchstabe allen ins Gesicht schleudert, ist ein Geniestreich. Aber Aretha Franklin forderte nicht nur Respekt für die Frauen, sondern für alle Menschen.
